The only legal workaround is to get written permission from O2 to allow your phone to be debranded. With this permission you can take your phone to a nokia care point and they will replace the O2 product code and firmware with a standard nokia product code and firmware.

Without permission they are not allowed to do it. You need to convince O2 that the new firmware fixes issues that you are having.
